Matanzas Graduation Rate

In the senior class of 2019 around 25% of the class has below a 2.0. This means that 25% of the class wont be able to graduate if they don't get their grades up soon buy the end of the year. This has many negative impacts on many areas of the community and doesn't just affect the student but many other people. This can be a result of rough family situations, lack of motivation, and lack of understanding the material.

If Matanzas has a low graduation rate it puts a negative look on the school. Its ratings will drop and as a result Matanzas will getter a negative reputation. This can result in the school getting less funding and having less options for helping students raise their grades so they can graduate. Not only that but it makes the teachers and educators feel like they failed the student because they were not able to pass their class. Less funding for Matanzas can result in budget cutting and ultimately laying off teachers. This hurts the economy because that's less jobs that are available and less consumers to help keep the flow of money

This also has a negative affect on the community because Highschool dropouts are more likely to be on welfare on some point and won't be contributing to the economy. This can cause the state of the community to deteriorate and grow worse. This is related to poverty because these high school dropouts wont be able to get a job and will live in really low end conditions. As a result of the community deteriorating people may choose to leave or move away and can hurt local business. Local Business will see less commerce and be forced to closed down if the conditions get too bad.

Actions that can be took to make sure this doesn't happen are parents encouraging their kids to go to school and get good grades so they succeed. Teachers can help students and try to motivate them so that they worker harder and pass. Friends and other students can also take the time to tutor and help other students do assignments so that they get good grades.
